ipAddress – Easily View Your IP Address
If you want to know what your IP address is, one easy way to find out is to access the Run command -> in Run type in “Cmd” and press “Enter” -> in the window that appears type in “ipconfig /all” – without the quotation marks obviously. You will quickly be provided with your IP address and a lot of additional information.
Don’t know what an IP address is? As Wikipedia, the fountain of all knowledge, explains it, an IP address is “a numerical label that is assigned to devices participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication between its nodes.”
If you have a static IP address, then you need only once find out what that address is. Save that number for whenever you are going to need it. If you have a dynamic IP address, the address will change every time you connect to the web. If you need to know what that address is, it might get tiresome to have to find out each and every time.
You could do away with this nuisance by using a Castle Software Ltd-developed application called ipAddress. The application weighs in at under 1MB, so the download should complete in a blink, no matter how lousy your internet connection may be. Installing the application your Windows-powered computer is an equally simple and speedy process – just follow the instructions in the setup wizard. Speaking of installing software applications, ipAddress will work with all versions of the Microsoft-developed operating system.
Once installed, ipAddress does one simple job: it displays a box; inside the box it presents your IP address. You can drag that box and place it anywhere on the screen. For easy access to your IP address, you can right click ipAddress and select Copy to clipboard – this way you can easily paste your IP address anywhere you want.
You can change the ipAddress’ background color, which is nice. But you cannot change the color of the IP address itself – it is always black. It would have liked to use a black background , but I cannot since the letters are also black and I can’t see a thing.
By default, ipAddress is set to be always on top. You can change this by accessing the Configure pane.
ipAddress is freeware that displays your IP address – nothing more, nothing else.
